In a statement issued today by the NCR, it said that contrary to the hollow promises by the clerical regime's authorities in the past few weeks, the mullahs' judiciary announced that "the trial of thirteen persons accused of spying for the Zionist regime will take place behind closed doors in Shiraz."
The appeasement policy of certain Western countries toward the mullahs' regime and their unjustifiable welcoming of developments in Iran that have nothing to do with improvement in the human rights situation have encouraged the ruling mullahs to pursue further their repressive policies, including the grave, systematic violation of the rights of religious minorities.
The Iranian Resistance calls on the
current session of the UN Human Rights Commission to adopt a strongly-worded
resolution condemning human rights violations in Iran and the mullahs'
maltreatment of Iranian Jews. It is time for the international community
to take binding decisions on the mullahs' regime in response to the clerical
regime's continuing flagrant human rights abuses and denial of the rights
of ethic minorities.
Mullahs' Regime Hides News of Planned Attack on Khamenei, Agence France Presse, April 13
NICOSIA - Iranian television put out a "totally false" account of a clash with members of the armed opposition Thursday to cover up the fact that the authorities had discovered plans to attack Iran's spiritual leader, the opposition said in a statement.
The Mujahedeen confirmed that a clash had taken place, but said it happened in Ahvaz, not close to the border with Iraq. Ahvaz is about 50 miles from Iraq.
The "false claims" that Mujahadeen fighters had entered from Iraq was to enable the authorities "to cover up the main issue, namely the plan to punish Ali Khamenei in the heart of Tehran," the statement said.
But the Mujahedeen said it had obtained a copy of the intelligence ministry's "unannounced complementary information."
It concerned the "plan to punish Khamenei by Mujahedeen operational units in Tehran on the route of tomorrow's Friday prayers," which are scheduled to be led by Khamenei.
"The plan was discovered following widespread arrests yesterday and the day before yesterday in Tehran," the Mujahedeen said.
The Iranian authorities intend to eventually
link the plot to Iraq, it added.
Fearing Popular Uprising, Pro-Khatami Paper Theorizes Submission, Iran Zamin News Agency, April 13
The pro-Khatami daily Asr-e Azadegan, in its Thursday issue wrote that: "In recent days, some authors of the press have urged Khatami to personally deal with the recent events. He is called on to a decisive attitude, fulfill his promises, take use of available levers, and take a clear stance. At the first glance, these are the least possible expectations of a citizen from a president he has voted for...
"But the situation is not as simple as that. First, apart from domestic problems, Khatami is facing international ones as well... The second issue is one of security and national unity. Our country has always had a great potential for tension and division..."
"We should not expect everything to
be rectified within one presidential term. Therefore, we should try to
abide by the law, just as our esteemed leader and president," the paper
said.
