Mr. Rajavi calls on U.N. Secretary General to take up mullahs' terrorist crimes

Following last night's cowardly assassination on the eve of the sham parliamentary elections of a Mojahedin member, Hamed Reza Rahmani, in Baghdad by the Khomeini regime's agents, Mr. Massoud Rajavi, President of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, described this crime as the reaction by a crisis-riddled regime which has found further terrorism and suppression as the only recourse in the face of the Iranian people's comprehensive boycott of the election.

Four years ago, on the threshold of the Majlis elections, the Tehran regime launched an air strike by 13 Phantom jets against an Iran Resistance's base camp near the Iranian border.

In a telegram, the NCR President called on the United Nations Secretary General and the Security Council to urgently consider the daily atrocities of the ruling religious, terrorist dictatorship. He declared: The clerics' terrorism has spilled over national frontiers. The export of terrorism and fundamentalism, material and moral support for terrorist currents and activities and the slaughter of innocent people in the region has taken on ever expanding dimensions. Under such circumstances, the mullahs must immediately be levied concrete international punishments.

Mr. Rahmani, 33, joined the Mojahedin in the northern city of Amol in 1979. Around 8:00 PM, local time, while driving in Baghdad's Sa'dun street near the Mojahedin central office, he was attacked by the terrorists and instantly killed. Previously, his wife, Ma'ssoumeh Hashemi, had been murdered by the mullahs' regime.

This is the 38th terrorist assault by the mullahs since 1993 on the Iranian Resistance on Iraqi soil. On February 20, the Khomeini regime's Intelligence Ministry agents assassinated Mrs. Zahra Rajabi, an official in the offices of the Iranian Resistance's President-elect, and Mojahed Ali Panah Moradi in Istanbul.

The Iranian Resistance holds the mullahs' diplomat-terrorists in Baghdad directly responsible for this terrorist crime and emphatically urges the government of Iraq and responsible Iraqi officials to pursue, prosecute and punish the terrorists and shut down the Khomeini regime's embassy in Baghdad.
