Iranian Resistance strongly denounces defense of critical dialogue

The National Council of Resistance of Iran vehemently denounces the remarks by Mr. Klaus Kinkel, the Foreign Minister of Germany, in an address to the Jewish Committee in the United States, whereby he defended the policy of critical dialogue with the mullahs' regime.

In his address, Mr. Kinkel said, "The Europeans have achieved much by their continued dialogue with Iran. This includes winning Iran's mediation in the release of western hostages in the Middle East, improvement in the situation of human rights in Iran, cooperation with the U.N. Special Representative and Amnesty International, and signing the convention on chemical weapons."

Mr. Kinkel, is interestingly speaking of the improvement of the human rights situation in Iran while the U.N. Human Rights Commission adopted a resolution only two weeks ago, underlining the persistence of the violations of human rights, executions, violations of the rights of the religious minorities and women.

The Iranian Resistance and other international human rights organizations have repeatedly emphasized that the mullahs' regime systematically murders political prisoners under the pretext of executing drug traffickers. Limb amputations, public hangings and flogging are still among the common practices of the mullahs' regime, eyewitnesses report.

Just this past month, the regime's head of the judiciary and the speaker of Majlis renewed the death decree for Salman Rushdie and declared that they would not retreat.

Yet what Mr. Kinkel describes as great achievements are only reactions to the escalation of international pressure, and in fear of absolute isolation. The mullahs' regime continues to oppose the Middle East peace process and the Palestinian government, support terrorism and encourage the Hezbollah to wage war in Lebanon, and insists on the death decree for Salman Rushdie. Nonetheless, hostage-taking, kidnapping, murder, and chemical arms build up remain as the regime's permanent instruments for advancing its foreign policy.

It must be added that most regrettably, Mr. Kinkel's remarks sets a detrimental example for the mullahs and any other similar extremist force who can directly conclude that violence, suppression, terrorism, massacre, and intimidation are very effective means for blackmailing the international community.

The National Council of Resistance condemns appeasement and any placating of Iran's ruling fundamentalists and demands an end to the policy of dialogue with the mullahs' regime.
