Dr. Rajavi: Illegal arrests made at mullahs' request to prevent Iranians' large-scale demonstration

In the afternoon of Thursday, October 28, Dr. Saleh Rajavi, representative of the National Council of Resistance of Iran in France and Switzerland, Mr. Houshang Rajavi, member of the National Council of Resistance, Ms. Elaheh Azimfar and Mr. Behzad Naziri, members of the NCR Foreign Affairs Committee, and a number of mothers of Mojahedin members executed by the clerical regime, held a press conference in Paris.

Dr. Rajavi said: The French government's measures to arrest the members and activists of the Iranian Resistance were made at the request of the officials of the mullahs' dictatorship and aimed at disrupting the demonstration by 10,000 supporters of the Resistance. The steadfastness of the Iranian Resistance's members and activists and their efforts to expose these actions, however, foiled these efforts and once again proved the righteousness and legitimacy of the Resistance movement.

The Iranians' demonstration on the day of Khatami's arrival in France took place despite extraordinary, illegal measures like the closure of borders contrary to the Schengen Agreement, as a result of which more than 5,000 Iranians from different countries who intended to enter France and participate in this demonstration were sent back from the borders.

Mr. Rajavi added: The people and public opinion in France showed that they are on our side and concur with the Iranian people and Resistance. We therefore emphasize that although any form of assistance to this regime will help the mullahs to slightly prolong their rule and step up suppression, torture and execution in Iran and export terrorism abroad, but it will not save them from definite overthrow.
