Terrorist attack on Mojahedin west of Baghdad foiled

Before noon today, a terrorist attack by the clerical regime against the Mojahedin near the organization's Camp Badizadegan in Baghdad's western suburb was foiled.

Three terrorists using a white Chevrolet Caprice, license plate number 326656 Baghdad, were about to carry out a terrorist attack against the Mojahedin. When coming face-to-face with a security patrol belonging to the camp, the terrorists opened fire indiscriminately, seriously wounding an Iraqi civilian in the face. He was transferred to hospital.

When the Mojahedin returned fire, the terrorist fled the scene. Their car, however, overturned 25 km from the scene and the occupants escaped. When the Mojahedin searched the car, an RPG-7 anti-tank rocket launcher and two rockets were found in a concealed compartment in the engine area.

This was the 86th terrorist attack by the clerical regime against the Iranian Resistance in Iraqi territory since 1993. Thirty-five of these operations have been carried out during KhatamiÕs tenure.

While emphasizing its legitimate right to response and self-defense, the Mojahedin call on the Iraqi government to pursue, apprehend and punish the terrorists. It also urges the United Nations Secretary General and Security Council to condemn this terrorist crime.
