New academic year begins with stepped up repression, but students' activities in support of Resistance could not be contained

Only a month after the beginning of the new academic year, the Resistance forces and cells undertook activities in dozens of cities across the country including Tehran, Ahwaz, Isfahan, Zanjan, Shiraz, Ardebil, Rasht, Gorgan, Ilam, Kermanshah, Qazvin, Mashhad, Oroumieh, Bushehr, Bilehsavar, Ahar, Maraqeh, Yasouj, Kazeroun, Fasa, Marvdasht, Dehdasht, Saravan, Zabol, Doroud, Boroujerd, Marand, Pars Abad, Meshkinshahr, Omidieh and Abadan. These activities were enthusiastically welcomed by high school and university students and included the following:

- Demonstrations and acts of protests in various cities and regions, among them the protest gathering of a group of teachers in the central building of the Ministry of Education in Tehran, the protest gathering by teachers of the literacy movement in Isfahan, the protest by the students of the Free University of Hamedan to the killing of one of their classmates, the protest by the students of the Free University of Najafabad, and the protest gathering of parents in front of Jannat elementary school for girls in Isfahan.
- Posting of large banners and placards in the crowded areas of various cities where they could be seen by students. Many of the placards carried the portrait of the Iranian Resistance's President-elect, Maryam Rajavi.
- Writing slogans on the walls, especially in the schools and universities. The slogans called on everyone, particularly the students, to support the Resistance and the National Liberation Army and join the popular protests to pave the way for the final surge by the NLA.
- Extensive distribution of the messages and speeches of the leadership of the Iranian Resistance in the form of brochures and leaflets, video and cassette tapes, with special focus on the schools, universities and colleges, and other educational facilities.

With the beginning of the new academic year, the regime greatly feared student protests and the activities of the resistance forces. The repressive organs were put on alert and the number of patrols increased near the schools and universities.

The Ministry of Intelligence issued a special directive to all the departments of education in various provinces according to which they were duty bound to report Aug. 20 - Nov. 5, any suspicious activities to the departments of intelligence and security so as to "prevent the counter-revolution's taking advantage of the students."

Also following the Resistance television's satellite broadcast of the message by the Iranian Resistance's President-elect on the beginning of the new academic year and the announcement of a further broadcast on the anniversary of Mrs. Rajavi's presidency, the commander of Tehran's security forces issued a directive to all regional commanders instructing them to "seek warrants for the collection of satellite receivers immediately upon locating them at any residential building."

The mullahs' regime launched daily waves of arrest of youngsters in the city squares and parks to create an atmosphere of fear and terror across the country and prevent all dissent. The activities of the Resistance forces, however, showed that the mullahs' regime cannot prevent the nationwide activities of the Resistance forces by added repression.
