Khomeini-shahr residents stage anti-government protest

Residents of Khomeini-shahr (formerly Seddeh) in the central Isfahan Province have staged extensive protests against the mullahs' regime since Tuesday May 13, reports from Isfahan say.

Large groups of people have taken to the streets. Chanting slogans against Khamenei and Rafsanjani and in support of the Mojahedin and the Iranian Resistance, they have confronted the suppressive Pasdaran (Guards).

The demonstrations and unrest have gained momentum since Tuesday and were continuing as this statement was being issued.

So widespread are the clashes that on Wednesday afternoon, the clerical regime had to acknowledge the unrest in Seddeh. Isfahan's television reported an attack by the regime's intelligence agents on a safe house and on pro-Mojahedin cells. It said that satellite dishes and the Mojahedin publicity pamphlets had been confiscated.

Suppressive centers have been heavily damaged, so far. In the course of clashes between residents and the Pasdaran, a group of people have been wounded or arrested. A number of the Guards and Intelligence Ministry agents have been severely beaten up by the protesters.

To quell the demonstration, the regime has put the Pasdaran and the State Security Forces in Isfahan province on full alert. The commander of the force, brigadier Ta'efi, and a number of Intelligence agents have gone to Seddeh to directly oversee the clampdown on the residents.

Concerned over the plight of those arrested in the protests in Seddeh, the Mojahedin call on international human rights organizations to help save the lives of those arrested.
