Mojahedin, regime forces in extensive clashes in various parts of Iran

According to the report by the Mojahedin's Command Headquarters inside Iran, large numbers of mullahs' agents were killed or wounded in extensive clashes in recent weeks between the Mojahedin on the one hand and the Pasdaran (Revolutionary Guards Corps) and Intelligence Ministry agents on the other.

Two Mojahedin members, Hamid Golestan and Hassan Rassti, were also slain in these confrontations which occurred in the provinces of Khuzistan (southwest), Ilam (west) and Kerman (south).

Fearing the spread of these clashes, which were accompanied with popular support for the Mojahedin, the mullahs' regime put its forces on alert for several weeks in these regions and launched defensive maneuvers in various cities. A number of people and the Mojahedin were arrested during the clashes.

The General Director of Intelligence in Khuzistan province yesterday acknowledged the extent of these confrontations. In a bid to boost the morale of its demoralized forces and to thwart the escalating tide of youths joining the National Liberation Army, he announced in a statement read from Ahwaz radio that "six networks which transferred" the Mojahedin supporters to the border strip, "13 members of this network in Abadan, Khorramshahr and Dasht-e Azadegan" and several Mojahedin were arrested "while trying to cross the border."

The General Director of Intelligence in Kerman had made a similar acknowledgment last week.

The General Director of Intelligence in Khuzistan also attempted to cover up the blows the regime received from the Mojahedin, by fabricating absurdities in his statement such as the arrest of "an American citizen while trying to cross the border to Kuwait," the executions of "two saboteurs who bombed the oil wells," the arrest of "a hooligan in Eazeh region," and the investigation into the "illegal conduct" of the director of water and sewage in Ahwaz.

The rise in the activities of the Resistance forces and the regime's inability to confront the expansion of popular resistance explain the delirious comments by officials of the Intelligence Ministry.

The People's Mojahedin of Iran urge international human rights organizations to spare no effort in saving the lives of those arrested who are under the most brutal torture. The Intelligence Ministry is planning to exert pressure on these prisoners to force them into taking part in television interviews.
