Mullahs' Intelligence Minister churns out lies in false show of force to overshadow clashes in western and southern Iran
- Mojahedin dismiss as sheer lies mullahs' claim that those who punished Sayyad Shirazi have been arrested
- Intelligence Minister reluctantly acknowledges clashes between Mojahedin and Revolutionary Guards

In a bid to overshadow the clashes between Mojahedin fighters and the combined forces of the Revolutionary Guards and Intelligence Ministry agents in the provinces of Ilam, Lorestan and Khuzistan, Intelligence Minister Ali Younessi claimed today that "the perpetrators of the assassination of Lt. Gen. Sayyad Shirazi have been identified and arrested in southern Iran.

"The Mojahedin Command HQ inside Iran stated in a June 17 press release that several Intelligence Ministry agents were killed or wounded and a Mojahedin fighter was slain in clashes that went on between June 9 and June 16.

A spokesman for the Mojahedin Command HQ inside Iran commented today on the Intelligence Minister's claim that those who punished Sayyad Shirazi had been arrested. He said: This claim is a sheer lie. The operational units that punished Lt. Gen. Sayyad Shirazi, who was notorious as a mass murderer of Mojahedin and was nicknamed "the Butcher of Kurdistan" are all safe and sound and unharmed.

Through this bare-faced lie, the mullahs' Intelligence Minister sought to put on a false show of force to counter the Mojahedin's nationwide campaign commemorating the 18th anniversary of June 20, the day the Iranian Resistance against the clerical regime began.

By spreading such false news, Younessi was also trying to boost the shattered morale of the torturers and henchmen of the mullahs' Intelligence Ministry who have seen their fellow-henchmen murdered in the course of the power struggle within the regime and their murders then portrayed as "suicide".
