Mass demonstrations and popular uprising throughout Tehran

The Mojahedin Command HQ in Iran announced in a statement issued today:

1. The popular demonstration against the mullahs' regime began at 11 am today at Vali-Asr Intersection in central Tehran. By noon the number of demonstrators in this area exceeded 50,000. Shopkeepers along the route of the demonstration shut down their businesses and joined the demonstrators.

2. Demonstrators attacked the patrol cars of the State Security Forces, whose agents first fired into the air and then shot at the crowd. The SSF agents were forced to flee.

3. Government vehicles in the area and along the route of the march were set on fire by the people. Furious demonstrators attacked Sepah and Saderat banks at Vali-Asr Intersection.

4. Mullahs who ran into the demonstration threw away their turbans and robes and fled.

5. Courageous women play a very active role in the demonstrations in Tehran, being at the forefront of demonstrations.

6. Tehran University and the students' hostels complex are still under siege by the mullahs' repressive forces. More than 70 wounded students have been unable to leave the campus since yesterday.

7. Despite the brutal crackdown ordered by Khamenei and Khatami yesterday and today and the carnage carried out by the repressive forces in different cities, people are converging on Mossaddeq Intersection from different parts of the capital.

8. As this statement was being released (3,30 pm Tehran time), three large-scale clashes occurred between the people and repressive forces in Mossaddeq Intersection, Tehran University area and Revolution Square.

9. Thousands of Revolutionary Guards and Bassij paramilitary forces from the Guards Corps' Sarollah Military Camp have been brought to the streets. Armored personnel carriers have taken up positions in Revolution Avenue and Vali-Asr Street.

10. A huge crowd estimated to be over 100,000 have gathered in Rah-Ahan Square and Ray Street in south Tehran. They are sitting on the ground and blocking traffic in protest against the mullahs' regime.

11. Mass demonstrations are going on in the city's central streets such as Lalehzar. A group of young people have set fire to Pelasko Building. A large crowd is marching on the Interior Ministry. Big fires have been lit by demonstrators in Tupkhaneh Square and Istanbul Intersection.

12. Several centers of repression and many centers of plunder belonging to the mullahs' regime and government vehicles have been destroyed and set on fire in last night's clashes, including those in Revolution Avenue and Azadi, Vali-Asr, Jomhuri, Rudaki, Hafez, Vessal-e Shirazi, Jamalzadeh streets, Tohid Square and Keshavarz Boulevard.

The mullahs' newspapers have reported the attacks on several police stations and the setting on fire of vehicles belonging to the SSF, describing them as "attacks by opportunists."
