Terrorist car-bomb attack near National Liberation Army's Camp Habib in Basra region
Big blast seriously injures two innocent Iraqi civilians

At 1:50 pm (local time) yesterday, terrorists dispatched by the clerical regime detonated a white Landcruiser filled with explosives on a road 30 km north of the Iraqi city of Basra and in the vicinity of the National Liberation Army's Camp Habib in a bid to destroy Mojahedin vehicles passing along.

A passenger car belonging to Iraqi civilians was destroyed in this cowardly terrorist attack and its two innocent passengers were critically wounded. One of the Mojahedin cars also passing along the road was damaged in the explosion and a Mojahedin passenger was slightly wounded.

The car-bomb attack was the clerical regime's fourth terrorist attack in the past six months on NLA camps in southern Iraq. In the last attack on September 1, 1999, the mullahs' terrorists fired 107mm rockets at the NLA's Camp Homayoun south of the city of Al-Amarah.

Yesterday's criminal bombing was the mullahs' seventy-eighth terrorist attack against the Iranian Resistance in Iraqi territory since the beginning of 1993. Of these criminal attacks, 27 have been carried out during Khatami's tenure as president. The car-bomb attack was carried out while Khatami sent his Interior Minister Moussavi Lari to the Iran-Iraq border region in Ilam province, where he has been spending the past few days directly overseeing the planning and preparations by the Intelligence Ministry and the Guards Corps for new terrorist operations against the Mojahedin in Iraq.

Iranian Resistance Leader Massoud Rajavi pointed out today that a senior official in the clerical regime acknowledged explicitly in remarks published recently by Tehran newspapers that the Intelligence Ministry has carried out "hundreds of (terrorist) operations against the Mojahedin in Iraq." Mr. Rajavi urged the United Nations Security Council to condemn unequivocally the clerical regime's terrorist crimes. He emphasized the legitimate right of the Resistance to respond and self-defense and called on the Iraqi government to prosecute and punish the terrorists.
